Service Description

✨ Explore creative writing prompts and techniques to help you write college applications and first-year papers. (This is not a college essay-writing class, but it will sharpen your skills for college applications and your first year there. Sequel courses focusing specifically on essay applications are happening in August.) ✨ This week-long workshop is dedicated to techniques that will elevate your compositions and help you make an impact with your words, whether you write for fun or because you “have to.” 📝 Specific writing techniques focused on the personal essay are at the core of this workshop. Each day, you will play with & practice sharpening your writing skills with attention to action, reflection, dialogue, diction, and tension. Monday - starting a scene with action: pace Tuesday - starting a scene with reflection: the “I" Wednesday - starting a scene with dialogue: when, how, and why Thursday - poetry & diction; economy of language Friday - creating tension 🎨 Supplementary craft materials are included. 💬 A peer-review and readout will happen on Friday, giving writers an opportunity to respond to and reflect upon their workshop peers’ words. Early Bird Registration: May 24-June 4 - $150 Regular Registration: June 5-24 - $170 Workshop Dates: June 28th - July 2 Time: 1:00-3:00pm Ages: 16*-18 years *If you are 16 and want to join your friends in the morning group, we can make that happen! 🌊 Workshops organized and taught by Unbound's Founder and Credentialed English Teacher, Heather Quarles. Heather has taught middle and high school students for the past nine years.
